  1. Reduces Stress & Anxiety

Let’s face it - we’ve all been under a lot of stress lately. We are jumping through new fire hoops that we were not prepared for. We are doing the best we can to navigate but stress and anxiety are basically unavoidable. Breathwork can help you meet your anxiety and stress in a conscious and constructive way. I have been guiding people into their fears and worries for years and providing a safe place for them to feel to truly release. Anxiety happens in the body when we are triggered into the Sympathetic Nervous System so we learn how to get acquainted with this part of our nervous system and we shift it into the Parasympathetic - where we truly get to relax and calm down. Being stressed and anxious are choices that we are sometimes unknowingly making and Breathwork is an actionable item that you can use to start to properly surrender. In the release you are finding more awareness and compassion for yourself and everything around you. There is a part of a full Breathwork Journey where you are given the opportunity to scream your brains out - after this portion of the session most people feel euphoric and more in touch with their true emotions. Not the emotions that have been running their day to day life. So if you have been struggling with anxiety and fear - this practice may be perfect for you!

  2. Release Stagnant Energy & Trauma

Trauma is stored in your body in physical and psychological ways. We are all going through life the best we can but we are often in the Fight or Flight response and our nervous system wasn’t designed to be on high alert all the time. Being alert and on edge has been normalized in our culture so we are causing pain to our bodies when we aren’t giving them an opportunity to discharge this heavy energy. Breathwork has the capability to give your body permission to literally shake it all off. When you breathe deeply you are changing your nervous system, you are giving your muscles permission to spasm if they want, you are granting deep emotions that you have suppressed to come to the surface. You are truly feeling and naturally letting go with every exhale and every body movement.

  3. Relieves Pain

When we are in pain or discomfort our bodies naturally respond by tightening up. This is an added stressor on the body. Focusing on your breath and slowing it down can send your body into a sense of relaxation where you muscles are no longer tense. When you are focused on your body and deep breathing you can change your heart rate and your heart rate variability which reduces stress in your body. The more in touch you get with your pain the more gentle awareness you can send to it. Giving your body an opportunity to get into the Parasympathetic Nervous System is the best medicine for your pain.

  4. Boosts Creativity

Our Brains take up a TON of our oxygen levels. If you are a high chest breather you are not providing your body with enough oxygen to function properly. I am a creative who used to get stuck in creative ruts all the time. When I started to shift my breath I had an ability to provide my body with the life force it needed and before I knew it I was back in my creative flow.

  5. Improves Immunity

When you start to focus on your breath you naturally start to deepen your inhales. This allows your body to settle in to the rest and digest part of your nervous system which naturally reduces stress hormones. Controlled deep breathing can also lower your blood pressure in stressful situations. When we are stressed out our bodies are susceptible to illness so focusing on calculated breaths can strengthen your immunity.

So, that is 5 ways that Breathwork can change your life. I hope this has inspired you to give Breathwork a try and see in what ways it can positively change your life!
